As a former high school All-American athlete and collegiate baseball player, I recognized how important sports and exercise were to people. I decided to enter the field of orthopaedics and sports medicine because I became intrigued by helping patients get back to doing the activities they love. Currently, I am a professor in the University of Florida Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine and a team physician for the UF Athletic Association. I earned my medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2003 before going on to complete a residency in orthopaedic surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Following residency, I completed a fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopy at the University of Miami Sports Medicine Institute (formerly the Uribe, Hechtman, Zvijac Sports Medicine Institute) and a fellowship in shoulder and elbow reconstruction at the University of Florida. As a physician, I believe all options should be discussed with patients.
