Staying with an eagle hunter family and horse back riding to visit other such families offers a unique, almost put of this world experience like no other !! Hi there! I'll be traveling to Mongolia on June 14 and will spend the first week visiting a bunch of historical sites with a friend. My friend leaves on June 20th and I will stay in Mongolia until July 4th. I would love to get out to Altai Tavn Bogd to do some trekking. I've emailed a few trekking companies I found online but wondering if there are local operators / guides you would recommend who might not have any web presence. Looking for more of a budget option if possible. Any suggestions or contacts would be greatly appreciated!
Travelling to this National Park , will be in the region for most of July this year. Temperature ? Do we need to pack outdoor gear to cover four seasons or can we ease off with thermals, waterproof over trousers, down filled jackets, or do we need to pack it all ? hi Diana July is the best time to visit this nat park, but of course this area is high which means you have to be ready for any weather conditions, frequent change of the weather which will never stay for long time if it does it will stay for one day but first two weeks of July is the most predicted rain then it's fine. Water proof clothes is insisted with extra underwear, wearing shorts fine when you are far from the locals but I suggest you to wear light trousers, if you do trekking or hiking, or horse riding the trousers would be best idea. have good trip
Hi travelers, My husband and I will be traveling to Western Mongolia late September, early October for the golden eagle festival. We plan to spend a week in the Altai Mountains and will go through a tour operator. We're considering a number of agencies, that of which are offering two different options for sleeping, tent or yurts. Horseback Mongolia is offering yurts for the week in the park and most other operators are offering tents. My assumption is that we'll be deeper into the park if we go the tent route. I would love to hear from someone who has camped in the altai park around the end of September. What is the weather like? Is it moderately comfortable or really cold? We love to hike and see nature but we also want to be somewhat comfortable at night. Has anyone used Horseback Mongolia to travel for a trip to the Altai mountains? Were you satisfied with what you saw? Any other suggestions of great operators?

Hi there, we have been there for about 2 weeks twice with Bluewolf travel agency and highly recommended it. Late September it was little chilly but we were just fine staying both yurts and tents for the whole trip. As there are 2 eagle festivals, blue wolf organizes the one in September and funds it. First time i went there alone, then i asked them if there was anyone willing to travel together and share the cost of the tour. They introduced me to a Japanese woman, who happened to also traveling like me alone. So we got along great, she went there the next year and so did I with 4 of my friends, who are professional photographers and had another great tour with the Bluewolf. They are the first and longest operating tour operator in the bayan-ulgii. In October, it gets colder sometimes so bring warmer coats as well. It may even snow. I could send you pictures of our tour, if you want just leave your email. We have been to the altai mountains and tsambagarav mountains and more. Great place to visit and we were totally satisfied.
