This was on our bucket list and boy I’m so glad we made this trip out. It was so interesting to see how this house was built and how mind-boggling to see things that didn’t make any sense in the hous… Jennygump48的完整评论

I met a friend and had a lovely time. The small stairs were unexpected. I loved the crystal and stained-glass windows. Our tour guide was full of himself an older guy and made-up stories and didn't l… Debby B的完整评论
I'm planning to visit in January. I want to book the mansion tour followed by the explore more tour. Are they both guided or would we need to allot some exploration time? I want to book first available it's saying 9:20 for main tour and 10:50 for explore more - does that give enough time for the main one?

The tours are guided and take an hour each. The main house is very impressive but the 'behind the scenes' tour is even better as you see the basement where the furnaces, generator for the gas lighting system and so on are explained in detail. You also see the various buildings that were the backbone of the house, and several other attractions. The grounds are extensive and these are great for a self guided tour. And if you like guns, namely the Winchester repeating rifle, be sure to check out the gun museum which is free of charge and well worth seeing. I have been there several times and love this place but I do recommend you get the guidebook as it shows various rooms in detail. As I recall the tours start at 9:00 AM and end at 5:00 PM.. Best to get there early and make a day of it. And yes, there is a café, but if you want a full meal there is a wonderful restaurant right next to the museum. And may I add you can easily spend hours in the gift shop, with a wide assortment of books. This is one of the most exciting tours I've ever seen. Have fun, Alex.
