Yes, BMW on Friday officially greenlit the Skytop for a limited 50-car production run, similar in scope to the 50-car run of the BMW 3.0 CSL. However, when queried if any of those 50 cars would be coming to the U.S., the answer was a resounding no from BMW.

BMW has not explicitly said that the Skytop is based on the BMW M8 Convertible, but the engine says as much.
