Quantum computing represents massive opportunities if the company involved can be the first to market with a feasible device. Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG) (NASDAQ: GOOGL) seems to be on that track, as a chip produced by its Google subsidiary just posted an unbelievable score on a benchmark test.

Google's quantum computing scientists this month demonstrated breakthroughs in the field that reinforce the sense that quantum computing is for real and will be able to find its place among other kinds of computers as a valuable resource.

For years, quantum computing has been something considered revolutionary, but out of reach up until recently. The introduction of Google's Willow chip, which took a complex problem that would have taken traditional computers an estimated 10 septillion years to complete and finished it in about five minutes.
