The Pixel 6 series may get Android 16 in 2025, despite official support ending in October 2024. This is suggested by its inclusion in the developer preview. Despite the fact the phone was scheduled to get 3 years of Android updates, which expired last month, the phone has been included in the newly-released Android 16 developer preview — suggesting that it may be getting a surprise Android 16 update sometime next year.

With the release of Android 16 Developer Preview 1, the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are supported. Assuming no issues emerge (like poor performance), this is a good step towards those two phones getting Android 16 when it launches in Q2 of 2025. An intermediary milestone to watch out for would be those devices proceeding to the Android 16 Beta in January.
