经LDF处理后，血液中的肿瘤细胞会被滤除或减少，帮助减少体内循环的肿瘤细胞数量，从而可能减少肿瘤转移的风险。这已在多种类型手术中得到证实。如Rajasekaran等的研究回顾了109例活检证实的肉瘤或骨转移瘤手术患者，其中95例行LDF印迹细胞学分析，32例回输血液行外周涂片检查，在任何样本中均未发现肿瘤细胞。
