The president-elect said the next Senate majority leader should be open to bypassing Senate confirmation for administration appointees.

President-elect Donald Trump is demanding Republican senators vying to be majority leader support recess appointments for his nominees — a way for presidents to essentially bypass Congress that has recently been blocked by the minority party.

Scott has renewed his push for the leadership position after Republicans flipped four seats from Democrats in this year's election.

Senate majority leader contenders were quick to fall in line with President-elect Trump's new demand that they be willing to use a Senate tool to allow him to quickly get his preferred, top administration officials in place.
