Students at Missouri State University are condemning racist text messages that have been sent around the campus over the past couple of days.

MU confirmed that at least one student has received a racist text message similar to those reported nationwide.

The University of Missouri is one of many schools nationwide to receive reports of racist texts being sent to Black students. MU Spokesperson Christopher Ave confirmed at least one person on campus has received the message.

Missouri State officials also said that racist graffiti was found in a bathroom on campus Thursday afternoon. Racist text messages also targeted students at the University of Missouri-Columbia and schools around the country.

Racist, anonymous text messages were sent to Black people across the U.S. telling them to report to a plantation to pick cotton, according to law-enforcement officials and civil-rights leaders. Black people in states including Alabama,

Racist texts, some mentioning Donald Trump, were sent to dozens of Black people in several states Thursday and Wednesday. The FBI is aware of the racist texts.

Similar mass messages were reportedly sent to students around the country on the same day, according to a statement from school officials.
