Alphabet's Google asked a U.S. appeals court on Wednesday to throw out a jury verdict and a judge's order forcing it to revamp its app store Play.

Alphabet Inc.’s Google is asking a federal appeals court to throw out a ruling in an antitrust case brought by Fortnite-maker Epic Games that would force the search giant to overhaul its Play mobile app store.

Google has agreed to pay $700 million and to allow for greater competition in its Android app store, although the settlement still requires a judge's final approval.

The judge ruled last year the Google Play app store was required to make changes to its payment system after forcing app developers to explicitly use its proprietary system.

Google has sent in an appeal over app store monopoly verdict. The story will continue at the beginning of February next year.
