Akira has incredibly strong emotional energy that demons could sense and it was enough to subdue Amon. None of these examples are expressed in the original Devilman manga, only in side stories and alternate retaling of the original story like Crybaby.

Like if Amon were constantly a voice in Akira's head commenting on how the goings on of the show, and possibly as a point of contention, occasionally offering to fully take over Akira's body and release his full power.

I felt it was kinda weird how Akiras personality changed way more than expected, and I felt it was pretty weird for Akira to say weird comments to miki about her knackers and tits, since he was her love interest.
