GE U50 - Wikipedia
The GE U50 was an eight-axle, 5,000 hp (3,700 kW) diesel-electric locomotive built by GE Rail. They were twin-engined locomotives, combining two 2,500 hp (1,900 kW) diesel engines. The U50 rode on four two-axle trucks, grouped in pairs linked by span bolsters, giving a wheel arrangement of B+B-B+B.

There was also the experimental U50 and U50C, testbed models manufactured for Union Pacific that boasted 5,000 horsepower but a host of problems. Future designs, like the U30B, U30C, U33C, and others sold saw increasingly higher sales and design improvements as GE engineers made tweaks recommended by the industry.

They were, however, the least successful of the three production models the railroad acquired. GE built 40 U50C locomotives for UP between September 1969 and January 1971.
