2006年12月8日 — Okay, I'm committing myself to making a cutlass (Navy type) and can't find any info or tutorials on the construction of a scabbard for it. I want to do a leather style with sterling silver tip and cap also. The silver work I can accomplish, it's just the layering to achieve the actual scabbard I'm having issues with.

2013年8月4日 — Genuine US 1917 Naval Cutlass The other thing CS could do, is to simply start making this sword with a solid guard, handle scales more closely styled like the original, and a scabbard that more closely resembles the original. The same blade would still be close in resemblance, since the 1917 was modeled after the Klewang anyway.

2013年8月4日 — Yup, today was my day to receive the 1917 Cutlass. I can say that I am happy overall with this purchase. I truly appreciate the careful packaging and the heavy grease applied to the entire sword (and just as grateful that the scabbard did not receive that grease treatment). Everything arrived undamaged and without a single spot of tarnish.
Rapier/side swords or saber/cutlass. Which do you like more?
2012年5月9日 — A lot of folk might look at them as rapiers but not really. It is like the notion that all katana look alike. Although, there is a little more truth to that. Some will look at a Patton 1913 and call it a cutlass, others a rapier. The more one looks at types and specifics, the more one can absorb the information.

Here's my UK Mounted Coast Rider's Sword from the very early 19c. Cast Steel ribbed grip like a cutlass, it has it's proper scabbard. For the heck of it, the UK 1804 spectacle cutlass I'm refinishing - the red stuff is primer.

2000年3月23日 — They tend to be a bit overbuilt and heavier than they should be. The hand and a half and the Grossenmesser seem to have produced the most complaints. I have 2 Scottish basket hilted swords, a 1796LC, a Smallsword and a 1917 cutlass, all have performed adequately and I have no complaints.
