Strohm received the B.Sc. degree in physics from McMaster University, Hamilton, ON, Canada, in 1999, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in biomedical physics from Ryerson University, Toronto, ON, in 2009 and 2013, respectively. From 2002 to 2007, he was a Member of Research Staff with the Xerox Research Center of Canada.

Air-Coupled Photoacoustic Detection of Airborne Particulates
In this study, we present a novel method to detect airborne particulates using air-coupled photoacoustics, with a goal toward detecting viral content in respiratory droplets. The peak photoacoustic frequency emitted from micrometer-sized particulates is over 1000 MHz, but at this frequency, the signals are highly attenuated in air.
