2013年10月31日 · The 5th generation iPod touch is easily the best sounding mobile device I've ever listened to. Far better than the nano, right on par with my dad's very expensive CD player if you load lossless music on it. If you get one refurbished I think they're currently $219 for 32 gigs, $299 for 64 gigs.

2012年7月10日 · If you were not using an external dac, then the best ipods were the 5th generation which had a wolfson dac. They sounded best. Obviously, for right now in terms of maximum storage if you have uncompressed files the ipod classic has the most. I use an ipod classic hooked to a Fostex Hp-P1 which sounds very good.

2010年12月8日 · As for the iPod sound quality debate. I'm perfectly fine with my new iPod classic, but I did just order a 5th gen 30GB from Gamestop for $40 shipped (scratch & scuff). That way I can try it, and if I don't like it return it. Or just return it anyway and find an 80GB 5.5G and upgrade the HDD and battery.

2013年10月30日 · With the mods I've done on my iPods, I've listened to the iPod 3G (Touch Wheel), iPod 4G (B&W), iPod 5.5G, and iPod mini - all with audiophile capacitor diyMod performed - and my favorite is the iPod 3G with an additional 20Hz HPF. The sound is just really rich and crisp from it.

2006年8月25日 · So a person would have to buy the iPod, bring it home, bring it back, Apple returns it to the refurbish center, the refurbish center refurbishes the iPod and then it is put on sale. Do you think they have had time to do that with the 5.5? I know your the person looking for the pcm card. Buy a refurbished iPod and forget the pcm card.

2013年10月30日 · The 6th and 7th gen Classic as well as most of the iPhone and iPod Touch families use DACs from Cirrus Logic which many feel produce a more "analytical" sound. This is a situation, though, where YMMV depending on headphones/earbuds, your own hearing, etc.

2009年2月18日 · The current iPods have the best compromise. Arguably the third generation had the best quality when used with Wav and a line output, but that's not terribly practical. The Fifth were the first to take a decent crack at eliminating the bass loss evident when using regular low-impedance earphones, without significant degredation of sound quality.
