would an ACE hardware carry a clutch head screwdriver?
2010年1月31日 · if i just went into my neighborhood ACE hardware and asked for a "clutch head screwdriver" the kid I asked head would probably convulse then explode. Funny you should say that ... because I did exactly that after I found the screws were clutch head ...and guess what !!! The young guy in our local hardware store looked at me like I had two heads ...

My father is a retired mechanical and he took a look at it and said, "I think that they call it a Clutch Head." Go to Google and type in "Clutch Head drive".

2012年1月21日 · Clutch head bolts I bought a 3 piece set on ebay. I was trying to get the size to remove the original fuel tank sending unit. None of the three was the correct size. Ended up grinding a slot across the head and used a regular flat screwdriver. Once removed, through them away and used phillips head screws. :anim_25:

( ok, one clutch head stripped out so I cut a slot in it with a grinder and used a flatblade screwdriver. It still would not come out so I ground the head off of it.

I worked in a body shop in the sixty and worked on a lot of these cars so had to buy clutch head screw drivers, a tool to remove the funny looking fasteners for emblems and a special socket for wiper escutcheons. I even have a little slide hammer for removing wipers.

They are a security type screw and require a special type of screwdriver to turn them. There are probably about 8 - 10 of them on my 57 Chevy of various sizes. They can be one way or two way turning.

The rear fenders do have them inside the bed for the fender bolts. I torched mine off and plan on replacing with something more user friendly! Allen.

2009年8月7日 · There are four screws with a strange head. Neither a phillips nor a slotted screwdriver works. It looks a little like the screws on my trailer, somewhat rectangular, but that tool doesn't work. I even tried grinding down a slotted screwdriver, but that just twisted like a pretzel. I don't want to drill them out because of the fumes.
