Winter wheat production is forecast at 1.36 billion bushels, up 4 percent from the June 1 forecast and up 16 percent from 2020. As of July 1, the United States yield is forecast at 53.6 bushels per acre, up 0.4 bushel from last month and up. 2.7 bushels from last year’s average yield of 50.9 bushels per acre.
Yields for sugar and seed are expected to average 36.6 tons per acre, down 0.2 ton from last month and down 1.5 tons from 2020. Potatoes: Production of potatoes for the 2021 crop year is forecast at 413 million cwt, down 2 percent from last year.

All cotton planted area totaled 13.8 million acres, up 11 percent from the previous forecast and up 23 percent from 2021. California Navel orange production for the 2022-2023 season is forecast at 1.52 million tons (38.0 million boxes) up 19 percent from last season.
Sugarbeets: Production of sugarbeets for the 2024 crop year is forecast at 35.6 million tons, up 1 percent from last month and up 1 percent from last year. Producers expect to harvest 1.08 million acres, unchanged from last month but down 5 percent from last year.
