2008年3月19日 · One alternative to get rid of snipe is to follow up the planer with a drum sander to make the board evenly flat along the entire length. I have the DeWalt planer and the blades seem to chip easily on maple that has defects such as knots. Sometimes I wonder whether the steel DeWalt uses could be a bit better to make them more knick resistant.

2008年5月2日 · DeWalt 735 dust collection problem. Opened up my 11 year old DW735 planer today as the height was getting hard to set and found it was full of chips. Cleaned it, closed it up then ran it and all seemed back to normal. Then I decided to recheck. It was loading with chips again so I was going to take it apart tomorrow to diagnose it.

2011年4月30日 · I am fine-tuning my Dewalt 735 thickness planer so that I can build a credenza for a friend, made almost entirely of highly figured curly maple (“luthier quality”). Obviously, the thickness planer needs to be tuned as good as I can get it.

2023年8月10日 · Interesting that the Dewalt 735 with Byrd shelix cutter head really limits the amount of material that can be removed. I have a Dewalt 735 and follow these posts. This is the first time I have seen that mentioned. Myself, I have the feeling that despite its popularity, the 735 is just underpowered for a shelix head.

2016年12月3日 · I put a Iguaging on my 15" planer. I thought calibrating the thickness was a pain compared to the Wixey. I now have a 550 on my 15" planer and I am much happier. True, figuring out a way to calibrate the iGaging units can be a little tricky. I had an older Wixey that did the 0.2" jump and I never could get rid of it.

2009年12月24日 · I feel that I was gouged buying the DeWalt knives from the tool store and could probably get some carbides for a fair price. I do like the Shelix, but I don't really want to invest in one for such a light-duty planer as the DW735 (not that it's particularly light-duty, but it's not exactly industrial).

2022年11月1日 · That is, I send another board through the planer directly behind the the board I'm planing. Sniping on the leading end is less common. Try having a board in front of the board you intend to plane. Assuming nothing is actually wrong with the planer I would think that there is something wrong with your set up on the infeed side.

2020年6月23日 · I used to blow my chips into a 45 gallon drum using the dewalt accessory and bag - I just had it clinched over the garbage can so the bag became a lid sort of. Then I decided to blow them right outside because I live in the woods and can get away with that. It works perfectly - I have a blast gate in the wall and I just connect and plane away!

2021年5月20日 · Of the ones I've been looking at, the Jet, Baleigh, and Laguna planers on one speed and the Dewalt and Wahuda are two speed. All but the Dewalt are "helical" cutters. Some use 4 sided cutters; some, 2 sided. The Byrd Shelix upgrade is ~500, which moves the dewalt from first to last on price. The dewalt gets good marks from what I've read.
