I'd suggest getting a higher quality food (not the brands you'll find in the grocery stores) since they are more nutrient dense without packing on the empty calories.

They don't have to be big but they should be high quality, with protein, fat and carbohydrates but not sugars or corn. Feeding sugary foods can make their blood sugar rise and than crash (I should know since I have low-blood sugar myself).

2012年6月8日 · I have had very good luck with lentils and I would add things like squash and sweet potato's I just took my hound that had a sensitive stomach off dog food and on to a home cooked food that consists of 50% ground turkey 25% grated veggies and 25% lentils. The lentils are easier to digest than the grains and have more protein.
