So,how can common ion effect possibly be the reason here($\ce{KHSO4}$ and $\ce{H2SO4}$ both are strong electrolytes). In my view the answer should be no effect and I'd love to have my concepts about Ionic Equilibrium be corrected if I'm wrong.

2021年7月12日 · $$\ce{KSCN + H2O + I2 -> KHSO4 + HI + ICN}$$ In this reaction, it seems the sulfur is being oxidized but iodine is undergoing both (disproportion?). The tricky part about the problem is the carbon. The carbon is going from a +4 to a +2 but still is not considered a redox atom. Why is this? Oxidation half reaction:

2021年7月9日 · In the OrgSyn Pyruvic acid preparation KHSO4 and tartaric acid are reacted forming pyruvic acid. I wonder if NaHSO4 could be used instead of the KHSO4. I have a lot of NaHSO4, it might be worth trying before i make any KHSO4. The OrgSyn procedure says a variety of dehydrating agents were tried and they settled on KHSO4.
