Mechwarrior 2 & 5 Mercenaries and HBS Battletech if you want to be a mercenary walking tank driver. Mount and Blade Warband and Bannerlord if you want medieval mercs.

I recommend buying wool weavers in Poros, Lycaron, Onira, and Daunistia then fighting for Vlandia, Battania, or Sturgia. Keep a party of 75ish troops and at least 1 saddle horse per troop. Xbowmen/Archers are best.
