2006年3月5日 · blade speed is usualy different, and more importantly is the clamping of the work on the miter saws. as for a wood vs metal band saw the metal band saw would work fine on wood, most have vareable speed and you can always change the blades out if needed. a hack saw will cut wood just not as fast as the wood saw will. so if you want a saw to do bolth wood and steel, i would get a metal band saw ...

Looking for a recomendation to buy a metal cutting (non abrasive) chop saw. Anybody have any they really like, if so what's the highs and lows. I looked @ the Evolution Rage 2 (on line), but don't like the fact that it does not have a quick adjust clamp and I'm not sure about its angle adjustment;: but it's in the right price range @ $300 +-.

2004年6月4日 · A fully equiped shop will have all three. The portable is only as accurate as teh user. Chop saws are quick and dirty and the stationary horizontal band saw can cut while you weld, fit or whatever. For the portable band saw I agree with Hawk; go Milwaukee. I bought mine 24 years ago used before they made the deep throat model.

2007年1月27日 · My vote. Skipchop saws all together. If you need it cut & welded a chop saw is not the way to go. Buy a bandsaw. The cuts are quicker, easier, and infinately more accurate. There is no comparison between a carbide blade saw and the small portable chop saws. My Makita has well over 10,000 cuts to it's name so far and shows no sight of wear other than visual. Angle cuts are held very accurate and of course the small chop saws won't cut an angle on round material that's usable as even the best blades flex way too much.

2009年11月10日 · If you want to cut accurate 45's in both directions, you need a miter saw. The abrasive chop saws and dry cut chop saws only cut 45's in one direction and not all that accurately either. Evolution Rage 3 metal cutting compound slide 10" dry cut miter saw is what I use for cutting accurate miters. For basic 90 cuts, I just use the abrasive chop saw.
