I keep the pellets in the basement so I bring a up a bag, and dump them into a steel bucket which is next to the stove and then either lift it and dump or use the grain scoop (which is a nice big one that I bought at the local feed and supply store) depending on how much the stove needs.

By the time it uses a full hopper of pellets or close to it, the pot will be full as well and the entire bottom of the stove will be full of unburnt pellets to the top of the fire pot.

Jan 29, 2012. #3. I just test burned some pine pellets sold by a local lumberyard and sold for either bedding or fuel pellets. The lumberyard has a huge business making and selling stair stringers. They take their scrap and grind it all down and pelletize it right on site.

Even with this my stove room 15x20 is usually in the 90s to keep the bedrooms 2 floors above in the 70s. It helps if the stove is in the largest room at the lowest living space level possible.
