Of those the only one I pay attention to is meat and since I'm vegetarian, that is not hard. The reason given about the acidic foods is it can kill the bacteria in the pile.

2017年5月16日 · I usually don't need to add salt since there is salt in the ketchup, cheese, and the bread. I make a big Dutch oven of stew with about 4-6 oz of meat (beef or pork. Lately pork is cheaper). The rest is about 5 potatoes, 8 carrots, a large onion, and a packet of beef stew mix with a can of stewed tomatoes or tomato sauce.

2009年3月23日 · There are pickling recipes that say, pack fresh vegetables in mason jars then fill them with boiling hot pickle spice vinegar, put on the seals & rings, turn upside down to cool. In about 1 month pickled vegetables are ready to eat. I need to try this with potato salad potatoes. This might also work with boiling water over a mason jar of potatoes.
