Mar 4, 2020 · I get along great with an 8" Lenovo tablet that cost about $100. Fits nicely in the middle of the yoke on the pipers I fly. My tablet is wifi only. Haven't been to an fbo yet that didn't have internet if needed, and I get adsb weather and notams from the stratux anyway. If I desperately need data i could always hotspot with my phone.

Samsung is the only manufacturer still building premium spec'd tablets, and they insist on skinning the interface and installing their own apps for cloud storage, etc. I recently bought a Tab 8" and tried to make GP work on it. Basically unusable.

I am considering a Samsung tablet but from what I was reading ( Up to Oct 2021) the Android version of Garmin pilot is far behind the Apple software and not worth running on an adroid.

May 13, 2022 · Lenovo, Samsung, and Huawei all make 8" tablets, but they are seriously out of date OS-wise, and the OS can no longer be updated. The Huawei M5 is a beast of a tablet with an incredible screen. Most of the currently available 8" tablets have fairly low-resolution (1200x800) screens. It's too bad, as the 8" screen is a very useful size.

May 28, 2024 · Virtually all smartphones and most Android tablets have GPS built-in (the new Google Pixel tablet being a notable exception). The iPads may not have GPS on-board unless you have a cellular model. I have FltPlanGo, iFlyEFB, and DroidEFB installed on my phone and two different Samsung Android tablets. All of these work fine.

Mar 7, 2013 · IFly gps on a samsung tablet and an iPhone. Aeroweather pro on both. Flight aware on both. 1800WXbrief.com. If your an AOPA member you have access to their web-based version of iflightplanner. Plans created there can be imported to IFly pretty seamlessly.

But I don't use tablets in the cockpit. 696 and 430W with all their overpriced database updates work better and more consistently than any tablet.
