网页2023年12月31日 · Canned meat (even home canned) will release a lot of moisture. When I can venison, pork, chicken or beef I use very little water. The meat shrinks and you wind up with a good bit of concentrated broth. But your suggestion is sound, and gives you an idea of how densely it was packed.

If I do decide to buy some roasts, I will cut a portion of each into stew meat to can along with the regular canning. I already have a decent amount of pork, some venison and turkey, a lot of chicken canned.

网页2024年9月11日 · We have a neighbor who has several steers butchered and vacuum packed at a time. He called back in June or July and 1/4 beef was generally going for around $1200 to $1400, 75 to 100 pounds of meat. All grass fed and extremely good meat. Comes out to around $12.00 per pound.
