Benzbromarone is a uricosuric agent and non-competitive inhibitor of xanthine oxidase [1] used in the treatment of gout, especially when allopurinol, a first-line treatment, fails or produces intolerable adverse effects. It is structurally related to the antiarrhythmic amiodarone.
