There was a couple of builders I did work for as little as 10 years ago that would sand and finish so the sub floor ended up being the final product. It actually looked pretty good at first.

All of this is over a 4-5 foot deep crawl space that is well vented and has new black plastic over the soil. The beams are 4x8 and have plenty of posts. I leveled, replaced a few posts, shimmed some, added some new footings and posts etc.

If you use your suv, through the suv and out the passenger side Window. Wind up with about 2 1/2 feet in either direction front and back.

Also a good slope (1/2" per 12" or so), rail that is better than deck rail attachment and flashing (time and chance of failure), more expensive flat roof material, a deck on top and how to protect the roofing material from the deck material. Also good to have a small overhang over the transition door.

2023年9月23日 · This is S. Ohio - Spring is wet, wet, wet, Summer gets into the 90s, and Winter is mostly just cold and windy with temps in the 20's & 30s with little snow. The roof covers about 200sf of deck, and at a 4 or 5 pitch with overhangs, is about 480sq of surface. It’ll be shingles on OSB or plywood (thickness still undetermined).

2014年7月24日 · The carport roof is 20' x 24', the long side against the house, which is stucco exterior. The roof decking is supported by 2x8 joists, probably fir, 16" on centers. The joists are sitting on 2 6x8, probably fir, beams as shown in the pic. The beams each will be supported on 5 6x6 fir posts according to Oregon code on concrete footers as shown.
