2021年2月25日 · In paragliding and sky diving the only place that you will get hurt is by hitting the ground. So it makes more sense to me to measure risk by number of flights than it does by number of hours. According to those statistics paragliding is 2x more lethal than sky diving.

On the serious accident side I would say that in my club we have like one serious accident of paragliding for one severe normal life accident (I think to that guy who was hit by a tram while cycling). On this relatively low statistic I would say +50% chance of dying, and + 100% chance of getting a severe accident.

I think the reason skydiving is so much more popular than paragliding is that it is really, really easy and cheap to go do a tandem jump and then be able to say you've been skydiving (I've done it). As for actual licensed skydivers, I think that it is just a geographic issue.
