Paver base for substrate from Home Depot for 4 bucks
2020年1月24日 · I went to the home depot and tried to find the finest grain gravel I could. I found this stuff called paver base for 4 bucks a bag. You can look it up on the home depot website, looks like the perfect substrate. I doubt it will be good for plants right away until you put some fish in there and the waste builds up.

2006年12月1日 · I just picked up a 50LB bag of Pea Gravel from Home Depot for $2.79. Extremely dirty out of out the bag, but after a lot (and I mean A LOT) of rinsing, it looks great. Thanks for the idea and tips.. I'm only using a small amount (for now), but even so, can't beat the value. Prices for 'aquarium gravel' at a fish store are downright ludicrous.

I put fluval stratum on top of that with crushed or broken up root tabs, then cap it all with sand (you can use pool filter sand, aquarium sand, or I've found very small gravel to work as well 1.5mm or smaller).
