Aug 22, 2013 · Each boat model (H16, H17, H18 etc.) starts out with a different letter. If more than 9,999 of that model were built in one year, there would be multiple letters for a single model. In example, there were so many Hobie 16's built in some years that the model letters include CCMB, D, E, F, L, O, P R and S (also do to several other factors).

Jul 31, 2014 · I'm going to look at my first prospective hobie on Saturday. I know to look for soft spots and check the sails but that's about it. It's an 1981 w/ new trampoline and to a of extra parts (including extra rudders & mast), two sets of sails, and a trailer.

Aug 21, 2008 · I sailed pretty much every day for several summers as a kid, and I'm decent but not advanced. I have no problem handling a Hobie Cat in high winds. I've capsized a lot of sailboats and righted them myself -- but never a Hobie. I used to own a (very) used Hobie 16, which I bought for $1000 from the classifieds, and I had a pretty good time with it.

Sep 7, 2010 · 800lb is so far beyond the ideal weight for a Hobie 16 it's absurd. Maybe that's the max bouyancy of the hulls, but to be able to actually sail the boat, forget it. The top racing teams are in the 300lb range. At 440lb you should definitely be looking towards an 18. Much more bouyancy and much more suited towards your weight.

May 14, 2006 · I have the original Hobie 16 Assembly manual that came with out 75 boat, it is actually professional printed, I will see if I can scan the pictures and the descriptions of them, if you can give me an address on where to send them. I don't know how old this is, but it has the Hobie 14, Mono 12, and 16 instructions.

Feb 19, 2018 · I am considering buying a 16 or 18 foot Hobie Cat. But I drive a minivan. Typically when I see hobie's being towed I see them behind pickup trucks or smaller lower cars. My concern is at the mast will be hitting the back of the van. I've searched for some time and cannot find any information on this.
