2011年3月27日 · Any oil is better than no oil but it's best to use the reccommended lubricant or its modern equivelent from a cross reference list. The requirements aren't critical and the machine won't explode if you don't get the perfect match.

Roller and ball races can be lubricated by either grease or oil. If the former - as used on a typical Boxford lathe - just a plain lithium type will suffice (unless the manual suggest otherwise of course), the grease "melting" as the bearing warms up.

2014年10月28日 · This is a good test because on most lathes the tailstock ways are worn much less than the carriage ways. So the tailstock ways provide a good reference. There are lots of Boxford lathes kicking around the UK (look at www.ebay.co.uk) and so if you need parts and accessories you can always get them from there. Cheers, Bruce
