Dwarf2 IR filter & California Nebula, ON or OFF?
2024年1月4日 · What is the informed consensus around usie of the infrared filter on an object like the California Nebula? I’m a newbie in this area and if there are any rules of thumb, or even a link to a useful webpage that discusses when to use CUT and when to use PASS, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That said, my advice is to keep it simple and as a baseline is 80 gain, 15 sec exposure (or the longest you can do without get star trails), and IR Pass. On gain - 80 seems to be a good middle ground for me, but some individual target you may want to go a little higher or lower. On those graphs, Gain of 60+ was a sweet spot to avoid most noise.
