Is chegg.com (book rental company) reliable?
2009年8月5日 · In every case the cost to buy was only a few $$ more than the cost to rent. For example - the cost to buy a speech book was $47.00 and chegg price was $36.00. Since she knows she will be able to get more than $11.00 for the book it was better to buy. Same thing with her science books - her Microbiology book was $87.45 on Amazon and $53.49 on chegg.

There are a number of reputable companies doing this and a growing number of colleges that facilitate (eg, picking up rental books at the school bookstore and returining them there.) But as momofsenior1 said, some require purchase and some you’ll need to own, for reference, going forward.

I rented another textbook from Amazon but it included the on-line access code. After digging around a bit, it appears that I will need to purchase the missing on-line access code for $117.

There were also books of thousands of SAT words back then for those who wanted to cram them as part of test preparation, although test preparation was not as common back then.

I go to a very small classical high school with a modified Great Books curriculum and know a lot of grads from Great Books schools (St. John’s, Thomas Aquinas College, Azusa Pacific, etc.). I will vouch for the Great Books. In my opinion these schools are about as formative an education as you can get.

The faculty/employees advocate doing practice tests and Vocabulary Labs, as they should be because they really help you.
