Once dissolved, you can use a brush such as firm toothbrush or automotive detail brush to clean equipment. For coralline algae or other tough buildup, allow it to soak up to 4 hours.

2022年4月25日 · Normally citric acid is more used for 'calcified' things. Bleach (plain unscented bleach) - is best for a storage tank. As to the concentration - citric acid - Randy recommended (in another thread) 1/4 cup per gallon and said 'more is fine'. Bleach is usually a 10% solution of regular bleach (1 part bleach 9 parts water).

2020年1月4日 · I have used citric acid exclusively for some time now. You should always triple rinse. Good example, I have XF230s that have been in continuous service since Dec. 2018, no failures, never disassembled. To clean, just turn off, drop in bucket (use the magnet), run 15 minutes, run in freshwater bucket 5 minutes, refreshing the water twice.

2020年12月27日 · I ran my powerheads in citric acid for a few hours and the coralline easily came off. I was able to buy a 5 pound bag off Amazon for like $15. On BRS they suggested using 3/4 cup of citric acid per gallon of water. I don't really measure, and I kind of just eyeball it.

2013年3月24日 · yep, citric acid powder. Just search it up on amazon, buy food grade stuff that is the cheapest at the time of purchase. Usually 3/4 cup to a gallon of freshwater and no smell at all. After a powerhead magnet bulged from vinegar i switched over to citric, works well but i do think it take more time than white vinegar to soak pumps

Question 5: There are only so many chemical reactions in a batch, so yes it eventually wears out. I have added more powder to an old batch before and it work, but I think you're better off to ditch the old and make a new batch.

2018年11月17日 · Just a little tip: monohydrate means that it's citric acid bound with a single water molecule: C6H8O7 * H2O . Anhydrous is just plain citric acid: C6H8O7. In theory, you can make anhydrous by dehydrating the citric acid monohydrate...the only problem is the pesky carbons which might burn.
