(For ex. HS DxD the japanese language plays an important role in the plot and the dub waters it down so much there are missing plot details) My conclusion: Death Note's dub preserves Japanese culture/and directly mentions elements of the language that are relevant to the plot; it doesn't try to "Americanize" it. So I would say dub on this one.

I genuinely love the dub. Perfect casting. The literal only bad thing is the way they pronounce some things but that's it. Both are amazing. Death note got lucky though, there aren't many anime I would say this over but both are great and I would watch it in either any day.

2023年6月15日 · With Death Note I think Brad Swaile played his ass off and I don’t feel as much emotion from the high octane moments in Japanese. Which is weird since I love Mamoru Miyano, especially as Okabe, and even though people praise the Steins Gate dub I can’t even sit through an episode of it with Okabe’s dub voice.

Dub 100%. I watched Death Note in sub and I couldn't stand how L's voice actor was always emotionless, even after Watari died. Plus Near in the sub sounds way too much like a girl. I just thought that the performances in the dub were more memorable and fitting for each character.
