Thoughts on 2019/2020 Gibson Les Paul Standard 50s and 60s?
2020年5月14日 · I've played a $10k custom shop Les Paul something or other (VOS finish, rolled edges -- just a beast) and it was as near to perfect as a Les Paul could be. To me, it is still not worth the extra scratch. I need a good Les Paul to do the Les Paul thing well and to feel and look good doing it - all for $2k or less.

2022年12月24日 · I got my son for his birthday a 2022 60s Les Paul standard. It’s really impressive, way better that the 2003 I once owned. That 2003 sounded dead and looked like it was coated in plastic. The standard I bought looked perfect and felt pretty close to an R9 except maybe the finish is applied a bit thicker. It has a good amount of flame.

2021年5月5日 · The PRS McCarty 594 is similar to the 50's Les Paul but a lot more money and it lacks the Gibson tone. If I was buying a LP now the 50's is the one I would go for. The 60's does have hotter pickups and also sounds great but the 50's seems to let you hear more of the wood when you add distortion and not as much pickup breakup.

2020年12月18日 · as mentioned above, there should be several Les Paul Classic Goldtops out there with that 60's Slim-Taper neck, that neck was pretty much the featured neck on the Classic line, regardless of finish (the Classic like also had a lot of very nice flame tops), the LP Classics from the 90's tended to run a bit heavy, so play before you buy if possible.

I would never walk into a store thinking ... I'd buy this one because of a certain year or color. But that's me. Congrats! I actually almost bought a LP Std 60s, but it was a 2022.
Gibson Les Paul Standard vs. Les Paul Supreme...sound differences?
2009年3月31日 · I have a Supreme and the best way to discribe the tone it's like a hot "ES". The guitar is very good at most styles, but does not sound like a typical Les Paul Standard. I like the overdrive sounds I get with the two amps I own (Fender and Mesa Boogie), so the only thing I can tell you is if you can play one. It will do classic rock very well IMO.
