Harrow School was founded in 1572 under a Royal Charter granted by Queen Elizabeth I. It is located in a leafy 300-acre estate, encompassing much of Harrow on the Hill in north-west London.

Harrow’s 324 acres comprise six conservation areas, a registered park, a nine-hole golf course and even a working farm. Coupled with its buildings of special architectural and historic interest, the School has the quality of a village.
Boarding - Harrow School
Common to every House is the priority and attention given to pastoral care – a major strength of the School. The House Master, Assistant House Master, Matron, House Tutors and House Visitor form a team to look after the 60 to 70 boys in the House.
Admissions - Harrow School
A full-boarding school for boys aged 13 to 18, founded in 1572 under a Royal Charter granted by Elizabeth I Each year, the School admits around 160 boys into Year 9, in the September following their 13th birthday, and up to 20 boys, normally aged 16, into Year 12 (Sixth Form).
Learning - Harrow School
Co-ordinating these myriad elements makes for a robust School routine. Preceded by Speech Room or Chapel, there are eight lessons a day on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with a shorter time for activities; and five lessons a day on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with the whole afternoon given over to sport, music art or drama.
Scholarships - Harrow School
Year 12 Scholarships normally carry an award of 5% of the School fees and are awarded for academic, sporting, artistic or musical ability. Candidates for a Music Scholarship must be Grade 8 or equivalent in at least one instrument.
Fees and Deposits - Harrow School
A Year 9 applicant who is offered and accepts a place at Harrow is asked to pay a non-refundable Acceptance Fee of £1000. For Year 12 applicants who are offered and have accepted their places, the Acceptance Fee is £500.
