2013年3月8日 · I nail up the soffit with stainless ring shank nails. Have also used roofing nails in the past. The alu fascia I nail up with roofing nails after pre-drilling. I got so goddamned tired of those alu nails that I just use roofing nails because it is getting gutter on top anyway. If I had a gable end, I would use the alu nails and pre-drill deeply.

2013年7月16日 · I maintain that FIVE one inch long quarter inch wide crown staples per panel of soffit is more durable and will last longer than TWO half inch screws per panel. I install them correctly, I leave 1/16th inch gap between the staple and the soffit, for heat expansion so the staple doesnt wear away the tin.

2014年5月19日 · I staple all my soffit, unless it is a ceiling area then it gets screwed and paint touchup. Fascia gets nailed up from the the bottom with a #5 Gal or SS nail touched up. Rarely buy prepainted nails , they still need touched up to look nice. Pretty much only face nail at the laps , cornors and at peak.

Then we switched to 5/8" screws cause we watched a siding installer use them and thought it would be quicker. I do remember watching siding guys using an air stapler on production houses, never tried that but it would def. speed thing up.

2024年10月6日 · 1x fascia is weak at best and the 2x lumber will give your gutter screws a place to grab without having to use the rafter tails. Not sure of your ventilation set up. It is always best to have soffit vents installed to allow introduction of air that will move up to the ridge vent.

2013年7月19日 · I staple most of mine. Use a Senco SLS25Xp which you can use 1/4 or 3/8 crown and up to 1 1/2 " long. Because of the way the tip is made it works really good on soffit IMO. And it weighs only like 2.5 lbs too. Personally i use 1/4 X 3/4 or 1" staples.
