Starch Synthesis. Starch, like glycogen, is a homopolymer of D-glucose in (α1,4) linkage with (α1,6) branches. Glycogen is found in Archaea, Bacteria, and Eukaryotes. In contrast, starch is found in photosynthetic algae, land plants, and in some cyanobacterial species.
