A newbie is not going to be the "right boat and right crew". If you don't want to spend the money on an 80 or 130, or an equivalent reel which can put out 35-40lbs of drag, then don't buy anything now.

I like big Stellas for spin reels as they are good when livebait tuna fishing also, but cheaper spinning reels (Spheros, Saragosa) will work great also. We use 50-65
