Pilotage - Port of Tyne
Pilotage, coordinated by Tyne Vessel Traffic Services, is compulsory (with some exceptions) for vessels over 50 metres in length. For frequent callers to berths in the River Tyne, Pilot Exemption Certificates are available, on application to the Harbour Master. The pilot boarding station is three miles North East of the harbour entrance.
