The UHU obviously does not dissolve the plastics, to anything like the same degree (if at all?) so relies on the 'stick' between glue and plastic.

This is part of my motivation to figure out the best glue to use to weld this outdoor plastic together post. I used the kit supplied UHU at the time and it was not adequate to hold the walls together.

2022年1月18日 · By way of experiment I have tried gluing some of the surplus sprues togther with my preferred Pola cement, but also Piko's supplied UHU Plast - same unstaisfactory result. Now I always believed that polysturene cements have a solvent effect on plastics, which allows the treated area to effectively melt, then harden to form a bond.

Both have also had small pins drilled in and gently knocked home for the last couple of mm or so to give a mechanical addition to joints. All bonding using my outside glue of choice, UHU Power. Windows from a Piko or Pola source.

Joining PIKO base plates together - G Scale Central
2020年4月18日 · If you glue the plates together with ploystyrene cement such as Testors Cement for Plastic Models, Piko Fix, UHU Plast, etc. it should be plenty strong. Make sure you clean any paint from the baseplate edges to be glued. Gently clamp the plates together on a flat surface until the glue is set if needed.
LGB Track Cleaner No 50040 finally died - G Scale Central
2010年4月25日 · Glued the new one on with UHU and this is the result, hopefully ready for another decade or so of cleaning duties.
