2022年11月6日 · I have been considering buying an index for the last year and I'm unsure whether I should, due to the "leaks" that have come out over this year as well as the previous year as well. I would like to know what you guys think valve index 2 would release and whether I should wait for the second one or another headset or buy the valve index now.

2023年9月16日 · True I will grant you that, but remember Half Life 2 and Half Life 2 Episode 2, Left for Dead 2 and Team Fortress 2 had good sales :)) But jokes aside. Valve is one of the most private firms around and they never launch something unless they truly belive it works.

Valve Index 2 Discussion Trying to find any rumors of a second model as I plan to get the Index or hopefully Index 2 if announced, saw in some patent filings showing valve got the patent for this in 2021 way after the index released but thats close to 2 years ago now.
What do you guys think about this about the potential Index 2?

the valve index is still one if not the best headset. valve will probly do a index 2 if 1. vr is worth to make a upgrade aka more games that would need a better headset and 2. if its worth enought new technolgy to be worth to make a upgrade. valve does not upgrade just for wireless. if the make a index 2 it will be complet new tech.

Should I wait for the Index 2 or get a different VR headset?
Agreed, an alternative to Index seems to be BigScreen Beyond, which also uses native SteamVR driver for optimal performance. But Beyond has locked ipd, small fov, only 75 - 90 Hz, and you lose the Index speakers. OP could consider the Vive Pro, which has oled and same res as Index - Vive Pro works with Index base stations and controllers.

The Valve Index of course released with the Knuckles, which implemented the grip sensor and finger tracking (as well as Half Life: Alyx and the Knuckle integration related to that game) This is the main thing that made and still for the most part separates the index from all other competition.

Weird flex, but okay. There's not even any rumors of an Index 2 right now. Valve has been working with HP and Microsoft on the G2, which likely meant no Index 2 development unless they were also looking to bring improvements to the Index platform.
